Day
1. Depart from Calgary Airport for Lizard Creek Lodge at the
base of the Fernie
Alpine Resort. Set in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Lizard Creek is
a luxury four star resort with magnificent post and beam style rooms, its own
spa and extensive wine cellar.
Day 2. Lizard Creek has many activities close by such as rafting,
mountain biking, fly fishing, hiking, skateboarding and tennis or just relax and
enjoy the
extensive range of spa treatments.
Day
3-5 An early start to travel to
the tiny village of Spillamacheen to meet the helicopter which will take you
to a lodge where you
stay for the next three nights. Groups of hikers, accompanied by a guide,
will spend the next two and a half days exploring some of the immense variety of
landscapes in the
Bugaboos, which abound with
glaciers, turquoise lakes, airy mountain ridges, plus the
You'll enjoy picnic lunches amidst stunning, utterly unspoiled scenery (the chance of seeing any other hikers up here are almost nil, despite the
Bugaboos' world
fame). In the late afternoon the
helicopter flys you
back
to the lodge, where
snacks, beverages a good book, or the sauna and restful outdoor whirlpool wait
followed by a
three course
dinner in the
evening. After dinner
get to know your fellow
guests over a drink.
Day 6 and 7 Depart Heli-Hiking and travel to Cathedral Mountain Lodge next two days. One of the truly great lodges in the Canadian Rockies providing unsurpassed attention to detail and luxury in the tranquility of the mountains. This a convenient base to form which to visit Banff National Park or Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, see the Grizzley Bear Refuge and eat lunch at the Eagle Eye Restaurant, the highest elevation restaurant in Canada. There are also two bedrooms available up here that can be rented complete with your own personal butler so you do literally wake up on top of the world. As you can imagine this is a very popular choice for honeymoon couples.
Day 8 take a leisurely drive back to Calgary to catch the evening flight home
