The Lodge building was constructed by the original owners and is quite a feat of engineering. The  ranch also offers excellent ranch-style home cooked meals. You will eat all together like one large family.  In addition to home-cooked meals, they also offer a lot of outdoor and Dutch Oven cooking.

The pioneer-style cabins are all of rustic construction and were built in the spirit of the old west, but are designed to keep you snug and comfortable.  You will be  warm even on cool summer nights. Each cabin has its own unique look both inside and out.  Although a couple of the cabins have a bathroom, there are bath facilities separate from the remaining cabins in a nearby bath house which offers five private  bathrooms, shower and bath facilities, two for men, two for women and one for handicapped.

There are also a number of rooms, some with private bathrooms in the Lodge itself.

The ranch sits at  an altitude of 5000 feet which ensures comfortable summer temperatures for all outdoor activities. They can accommodate 16 guests at a time. Open May to October.

You will be matched up with a horse according to the level of your riding ability. The ranch offers a variety of riding for the experienced and inexperienced rider.

They have riding instructors that can teach you from basic to advanced horsemanship, roping, team penning, cutting, sorting and much more.  You will learn horse etiquette and safety, the  basics of horse control such as starting and stopping, plus saddling your horse.

Just adjacent to the ranch you will find 35 miles of forested hills in which to ride, the ranch is surrounded by thousands of acres of beautiful, pristine Boise Cascade and National Forest property.

The Longhorn cattle here also need attention during the summer so you could find yourself using your new skills to move the herd to new grazing, care for new calves, repaid fencing plus feed and water other ranch animals. Then in September,  gathering the stock up and bringing it back to be over wintered near the Lodge.

Tell Us What You Think

My hosts Victoria & Jason were a delight to spend time with and I very quickly felt part of the family. It was also a pleasure to meet and spend time with Victoria's Mum & Dad; our chats around the stove in the evening were great fun. With three good wholesome meals daily and cosy and comfortable cabin accommodation, my stay was first class. With morning and evening trail rides, a day trip to buy two new horses, inspecting and repairing fences, and rounding up cows with wrangler Jen and the legendary Steve Allay.  Not forgetting the bull elk that galloped across the trail in front of us one day, the family of bears disappearing up through the trees, and the brief otter sighting one evening!  The whole week and experiences will stay with me forever.
